This Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc is a classic and typical of the wines that made this region famous. In style it shows a young, vivacious and zingy character. It punches its way out of the bottle reminiscent of an energetic teenager. This is a really good fun wine and very approachable. A wine that is great with good company or food and very unpretentious!
In appearance this Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc is green yellow in colour. The aromas are of lychee and gooseberries and a hint of leaf on the noise. When tasting the typical ripe tropical fruit flavours of gooseberry and passion fruit come to the fore. Then combining with herbaceous overtones to give a full and intent fruit flavours on the palate. The finish shows a lingering of the fruit flavours with a lovely balance and juicy acidity.
Food Matching: This wine is great with Thai flavours. It is also very good with most seafood where the high acidity will help cut through those beautiful creamy sauces.
Grape: 100% Sauvignon Blanc
Black Cottage offers a range of very characterful wines. Made by Dave Clouston who combines great fruit selection with modern winemaking techniques to create some excellent wines. The grapes for the Sauvignon Blanc are grown in two different plots both located in the heart of Wairau Valley in the Marlborough region. Here the stony soil and the long summer day’s present perfect growing conditions for these grapes. When harvested the grapes give those classic punchy Marlborough characteristics that we all know and love.
The vineyards are hand tended and the grapes are harvested at the perfect point of ripeness. During the vilification process the grapes are gently pressed and cool fermentation methods are used in stainless steel vats to maximise fruit purity.
