Mellasat Viognier 2014
The Mellasat Viognier has prominent floral notes of orange blossom on the nose that leads through to peach and apricot flavours on the palate. This is slightly sweeter than you may expect. The wine can also be enjoyed now or carefully cellared for mature drinking.

The Mellasat Viognier is the result of a low yield of grapes, this gives a good intensity of the flavours. This wine has prominent floral notes of orange blossom on the nose that leads through to peach and apricot flavours on the palate. This is slightly sweeter than you may expect. These Viognier grapes were picked at optimum ripeness, and the resultant wine is barrel fermented and matured for eight months. The wine can also be enjoyed now or carefully cellared for mature drinking.
Food Matching: Mellasat Viognier goes really well with chilled Summer soups, Grilled Salmon or Pan-Fried Seafood. Particularly pleasant with good friends.
Vinification: With a low yield of less than four tonnes per hectare the grapes for the 2014 vintage were pressed by pneumatic bag press and juice settlement undertaken for three days. Fermented and matured in large Romanian oak barrels ( 37% new, 63% second and fourth fill 500 litre and 300 litre barrels) for nine months, malolactic fermentation was not encouraged after the alcoholic fermentation but the lees was stirred by rolling the barrels for up to six months during maturation. The wine was bottled in December 2014 and released in March 2015. Alcohol: 13.86% vol.
